@undercover Make a new thread and maybe a lot of people might help you. Airtel VDSL is something used by a lot of people here (including me).

What I know is that Airtel's Engg. wants Airtel to install FTTH and get rid of Copper wires. Basically the ground team themselves wants FTTH to come asap.

The issue is related to their copper. Which they won't be replacing or lay fiber here. And the location being a commercial sector, still they aren't bothered. That's the reason, many local isp have take a pie. Also for people still hanging on with airtel is because of the landline service. The day Vowifi is a reality, many will move out of airtel.

^ True, Don't worry, Airtel is biggest player, they won't let their downfall come into this sector. FTTH is coming soon, I know specially in Metros.

I think FTTH rollout by various players in India was too slow/delayed. They still struggle with "last mile" problem of how to place the wiring, underground, overhead etc, too messy. Pretty soon (in 1-2 years) I guess 5G will launch and start to make FTTH pointless.

@vishalrao There are people struggling to have Mobile Network anywhere inside the house/offices specially in Delhi. Broadband is the option we have here.

FTTH > Mobile to be honest in terms of rock-solid connectivity.

Your point is correct, but FTTH is more stable market as compared to Mobile (there is no easy shifting in FTTH/Broadband) as compared to Mobile, thanks to MNP.

Infact the profile margin is right now greater in FTTH/Broadband.

5G is supposed to solve issue of signal penetration into inside buildings/walls etc I believe.

One advantage of 5G (wireless) over FTTH (wired) is no cable cutting by competing LCOs and no issues of permission to dig or lay the fiber in last mile of the house.

ISPs just have to upgrade their towers to 5G enable them to provide service in any location and side step the problem of permissions.

I think Jio FTTH ping issue can be resolved easily as Jio is more focused on setting up physical infrastructure,their network is virtualised so when the infra is in place, required configuration(routers,switches) can be done overnight.

If they are going to have LCO for the last-mile, I don't have any hopes they would fix it.
