Which to choose ? i am more inclined towards htcdraw backs of htc are low internal storage, no hdmi out, 1230 mAh batterydraw backs of samsung are comparatively slower processor, less ram, 5mp cam, crappy samsung s/wwhat are you thoughts ? i am making the purchase tomorrow

I bought a Galaxy S last month and i am very happy with my decision.Main advantage of Galaxy S is wondeful screen and light weight. Yes i agree that phone is slower (not processor) compared to HTC but HTC DHD is very bulky and also with that 1230mah battery, i doubt whether it can last for a day with normal usage.I suggest you to wait for another month as more models will be launched. Also Nexus S will be here with a similar pricing. You may get a dual core processor phone for similar price.

screen are similar for both, htc has a metal body and gives a better feel in hand; samsung is plastic body and looks cheap

1500mah might last an hour or two longer

cant really wait another month

nexus s, is proly only US launch, also no warranty here & its nothing but Samsung Galaxy s with google branding

dual core processor, only LG has announced; others might launch atleast after 2-3 months

You cannot compare a Super AMOLED to SLCD screen. Super AMOLED offers incredible contrast, high resolution and spotless sunlight legibility.
I agree that Samsung plastic body does not look amazing but phone is very light at 119Grams compared to 164gm of HTC DHD.

You cannot be so sure about an hour or two. It all depends on how many programs you run in background, whether you use live wallpapers, how many videos you watch and how many games you play.
Seriously under moderate usage i get One and half days on my Galaxy s and i still see 30% battery power left.

Nexus S will be launched shortly. Thats the reason you dont see Galaxy S in every mobile store. Nexus S may share similar hardware but its not exactly a Galaxy S with google branding. You will get latest Android OS updates much faster than other players. Also Nexus S has a stock Android 2.3 OS :)

Dual core processor powered phones are going to cost in range to 35K+

i bought the Galaxy s back in mid august last year...on the hardwaresome feel that the body is cheap and plasticky. but i like how thin and light the phone is..i am quite happy with the camera but it has no flash..4 inch super amoled display is really good and beats the amoled/slcd in HTC's... it performs much Better in sunlight..bundled earphones are also very good in comparison to the 5800 i had before galaxy s.over all i prefer galaxy s and not desire HD on looks...on the softwarei was pretty happy with the performance on eclair and excited about froyo features.. but after updating phone has severe lag problem and apps force close very frequently... ram is said to be 512 Mb.. right now no apps are running on the phone and the task manager is showing 228Mb used out of 304Mb.. making roughly 80 mb available... and the web browser itself takes around 50-60 mb... so you can see for yourself it won't be any good multitasking..i believe software fixes by samsung in the makingso at the end of the day i feel like i like i have a sleek looking expensive device with some beta/prototype softwarebattery..i feel all android phones have very poor battery if you are heavy user you will need a car charger/extra battery or some other on the go solution.i suggestDesire HD if you want a big sized phone which performs fast out of the boxGalaxy s for the design......... and if you are ready to ROOT and install some mod/lagfix/custom rom which will bring the performance at par with desire HD

on the software

i believe software fixes by samsung in the making

so at the end of the day i feel like i like i have a sleek looking expensive device with some beta/prototype software
thanks for your input, wanted to verify all the slugish claims and you seem to have answered it well :)

Desire HD if you want a big sized phone which performs fast out of the box

want to work out of the box, don't want to waste time on something that the manufacture should have been doing ;)

Even am feeling the lag problem in my Galaxy S with 2.2. Someone suggested that the software may not have been properly upgraded from 2.1.I will be going to visit the samsung Service center to flash the 2.2 version again to check it out.Cant root the phone as it will lose warranty :(
