Have a look at the Samsung ad in today Times of India, you will see this ad http://epaper.timesofindia.com/Default/Scripting/ArticleWin.asp?From=Archive&Source=Page&Skin=TOINEW&BaseHref=TOIM/2013/12/31&PageLabel=1&ForceGif=true&EntityId=Ad00101&ViewMode=HTML  Their idea of 'carrying the latest' is that YOU have to BUY/Exchange for the latest model of their phones. Why cant they keep their phones updated with the LATEST firmware especially KitKat as it can handle h/w with 512 MB RAM. See what Micromax has promised to do for their Canvas series

Sounds like an interesting idea. Not sure what would be the 'fantastic buyback price'.

All depends on the buyback price. If it is 20k after 6 months, and ur already paying over 44k, you end up losing a whopping amount. The S4 is available for 33k online and around similar price or little more at retail stores so Samsung is already charging you 11k extra right now. Another marketing gimmick. IMO, Gionee Elife E7 looks to be a great device, if only they could provide decent after sales support.

A smarter move would be. Pay 20K per year and lease the latest S series phone from us. As long as the phone remains in good condition.
lol.

So, first one can only sell-back their smartphone within the first 6-12 months of the purchase. So, if you want to use a phone more than 12 months, like 18 months and then switch to newer device, this buyback option is no good.
Also, as Ingram Micro decides the value of your device as per their valuation, there is no guarantee that you will get a great deal. Why not just try and sell your phone by yourself and even several multi-brand outlets buy-back devices on the spot.
As you can see, this is just one clever promotion from Samsung with not a single enticing value preposition.

The earlier marketing campaigns/offers had atleast something in it for the consumer. However, with this new initiative/gimmick, Samsung's taken it a bit too far thinking they can take customers for a ride. With the sales that Nexus 5 is showing in India with least marketing/publicity, Samsung needs to come up with something better than this crap.
