Under this partnership, SBI will provide an overdraft facility to pre-qualified set of customers for transacting on Flipkart for a minimum purchase of Rs 5,000. The EMI facility will be available in three tenures – 6, 9 and 12 months – and the bank will not charge any fees to process the facility. The interest rates for such overdrafts will be same as personal loan the bank offers.
Now, shop on Flipkart, pay SBI in EMIs; check out how - The Financial Express

Went with dad. SBI guy flatly refused to do proof of life verification because dad does not have an Aadhaar Card. I am pretty sure Aadhaar is not yet mandatory for getting pension from the state or central government. Anyhow, dad is latest to fall to this nonsense from the government.

PS: Pension is not a relief from the government. It is not a subsidy. It is a right of a retired government officer. Supreme Court has been accommodating when it comes to subsidies and loans and other benefits. Pension I believe is not on the approved list from the Supreme Court.

i asked dad to take sbi to court. but he is tired of fighting the system and decided to apply for aadhaar tomorrow.

^ yeah, its virtually impossible to get things done without adhaar. People in west would have fought it tooth and nail but our population just accepted it bent over backwards.

Even getting things like trade license, NOC from police is impossible unless adhaar

I wonder how long it I can manage without it. Let's hope they don't force it for income tax filings

I try to avoid adhaar whenever possible but its been tough really. even fucking police guys asked adhaar for noc and when I refused, they just asked me to get my friends' card. but flatly told that without adhaar, things wont get done

I tried avoiding aadhaar for long but few weeks back got it made for myself and family, you cant escape it .

remains to be seen. still no plans to get it. i do not depend upon any government scheme which should force me to get aadhaar under current scenario. remains to be seen what new tactics they come up with to trap folks like me.

From the Act:
CHAPTER III
AUTHENTICATION
7. The Central Government or, as the case may be, the State Government may, for the
purpose of establishing identity of an individual as a condition for receipt of a subsidy,
benefit or service for which the expenditure is incurred from, or the receipt therefrom forms
part of, the Consolidated Fund of India, require that such individual undergo authentication,
or furnish proof of possession of Aadhaar number or in the case of an individual to whom
no Aadhaar number has been assigned, such individual makes an application for enrolment:
Provided that if an Aadhaar number is not assigned to an individual, the individual
shall be offered alternate and viable means of identification for delivery of the subsidy,
benefit or service.

So, Aadhar is not mandatory as per the Act itself. Plus, the Supreme Court has passed an order last year that "...the
Aadhaar card Scheme is purely voluntary and it cannot be made mandatory till the matter is finally decided by this Court one way or the other." The Supreme Court has allowed Aadhar only for PDS and LPG subsidy.

Shoot off an email to chairman@sbi.co.in stating that forcing Aadhar is in violation of Supreme Court orders. Mark a copy to supremecourt@nic.in.

My bank was doing a blessed Aadhar Fortnight crap and when the manager asked me for my Aadhar no., saying it was orders from the top, I told him to ask from me in writing. End of story.

or in the case of an individual to whom no Aadhaar number has been assigned, such individual makes an application for enrolment

what does this part mean? in any case, dad has given up. writing mails was not going to change anything. we would have to take sbi to the court. he is not interested in pursuing it. he is not against aadhaar as such. he just never bothered to get it because it was/is not required for anything like DL or PAN or Voter ID.

it's his pension so he also does not want to delay the thing. sbi does not lose anything. dad does not get his pension. if this was a regular kyc related thing, it would have been worth it to take it up with higher authorities. sadly.

Write that email. It will work.

SBI wanted to recover EMI amount with interest of PDCs they had not deposited. One email to the Chairman of SBI and everything got sorted pronto.
