Thank you Google Dialer Spam filter. Never got any such calls in the last 1 year!

I remember some dude from North calling me last year for some KYC for my bank account which I do not have actually ;)

I had to tell him 98493 ... Ahem Ahem!

I had lodged a DND complaint and Airtel sent me this -

Hi,with reference to the Service Request no. CDRGP3EST202108xxxxxxxx regarding DND issue on your Airtel Number, we have sent a warning and put a usage limit of 20 SMS and 20 calls for 1 month on the unregistered telemarketer number. Post investigation, appropriate action will be taken against the telemarketer as per the TCCCPR 2018 guidelines.

Don't they understand that no means "Absolutely NO!"
@royalroy Could you share the number for registering DND services? Or is there some other method?

@socrates You may escalate DND complaints to nodal. Just like any other complaint.

There is a TRAI portal where you can search any header company details and the purpose of that header. Companies are free to choose that 'purpose'. SPAMMERS were free to register their headers under the 'service SMS' banner. Airtel just used to copy that 'purpose' to reject our DND complaints.

Nowadays, it is tougher for telecom headers to send out SCAM SMS because of scrubbing. Nowadays, companies need to upload SMS templates, and telcos need to approve that. It is the responsibility of the telcos to verify the authenticity of the templates. Only approved SMSs are carried over the network. So, scammers are using normal numbers since SCAM SMS get rejected during verification.
