'Security configuration of MTNL ADSL wireless (WiFi) router
Dear MTNL subscriber,

Wifi Connections enable modems to connect to Internet.MTNL provides ADSL wireless routers which enable wifi Internet access.

Unsecured or unprotected wifi connections can be used by unscrupulous/
anti social/anti-national elements for fraudulent/anti-national activities as witnessed in the recent past.In view of the recent incidents invloving misuse of wifi connectivity , it is required that the wifi connections be made secure/protected.

Kindly note the following simple instructions for better triband service.

All customers who are using wireless (wifi) routers should enable the security feature in the router for avoiding unauthorized access from unknown persons. If you are using MTNL ADSL wireless (wifi) router, 2 types of security features are available.
1) Encrypted password protection 2) Access control by MAC Address
If you are not aware about this security configuration, please contact your nearest Exchange

Really? Available 24x7?

Yes, I once tried 6AM in morning.. it was picked up :D

When my neighbour had a problem it was on Gudi Padva day at 11 pm when we called up 1504, they said they would call back 'within half hour' and they actually did. In 22 mins. :)

Yep, if I file a complain on 198..i mostly get callback in 10mins.. and this has happened very consistently in past 3-4 yrs. so problem is resolved or not but u atleast get acknowledgment.

They have answered me twice at about 11:30pm...
