I bought an ACT Fibernet 20 Mbps connection 12 years ago where I knew nothing about the CTS CPE device from taiwn that ACT had installed at the customer premises would draw domestic power electricity but they would share the connections to multiple subscribers without even paying commercial electrical tariffs.
This has affected me in 2 ways:
During the time of broadband installation the company only informed that electric power would be drawn from the customer premises. But they hid the fact that this equipment would be shared among multiple broadband subscribers in the building. I recently learnt about the very nature of commercial activity. Since the last 12 years, I have been providing power to this equipment under domestic tarriff. So far company has'nt installed any commercial metre nor shared any approvals from BESCOM. This installation is not specific to this building alone but has been witnessed across houses at Bangalore Urban areas.
Given a letter to electricity department for seeking clarification on this matter. Please don't be fooled if anyone from ACT approaches you to install any CPE device ask them to install dedicated device. Could any of the ACT subscribers tell if you have a dedicated switch or have moved away to different broadband ?

- Though on a 100Mbps plan I do not get more than 85-90 Mbps even when connected via RJ-45 cable with a single device to their switch. Uploads are in the range 70-80 Mbps
- Risk of fine from BESCOM. 100 - 150 Rs electrical charges for which they are paying just 50 Rs as power discount.
