Just curious what is the reason to buy such expensive modems? That too for using with mobile data plans.

Since Jio/Airtel announced free 5G, I have not paid for my broadband. My broadband bill used to be about 2214 pm. So I have saved about 25k on broadband bills. I can also take these modems with me and use it while I'm travelling. I heard news that jio is extending free 5G till 2025 so it kind of makes sense. Still expensive but...

Dude you spent 45k on new 5G router. That is the cost for a yearly plan from Airtel or Jio with 1 gbps constant speed. So if you combine 30k and 45k you spent for both those 5G routers, you could have paid for 1.5 yrs of 1gbps access.
The 5G unlimited plans can get cancelled any moment and they are not a permanent.

I'm a hobbyist. I don't get Airtel or Jio broadband near my home. It's BSNL or LCO. Max speed is 300Mbps. I'll probably take the 599 unlimited plan by Jio if the offer gets discontinued. Also I hope to flip my current modem for some money
I know it does not make sense, paying early adopter tax.

For me, it wasn't choice. Where I live we don't have any kind of broadband connection. When Jio 5G launched, I brought ZTE modem for my work. Since then I have exhausted both Jio 5G and Airtel 5G. Both are not UNLIMITED in true sense. Airtel 5G atleast works as it should but Jio 5G is just shit (tones of speed cap, blocking legit sites and lots more tricks)

Btw, if you know anyone from gulf and can get you gadgets, please checkout the current price of the same device at Amazon.ae (currently it costs 570AED or Rs.13k). Just 4 months ago, it was sold for 18.5k. So, the price is fluctuating. Good luck.
