Shifting to CHENNAI

Hi guys,
I am shifting to Chennai in a couple of days and want to buy a bsnl sim. Will I be able to buy a sim without Tamil Nadu address proof? Will passport be enough or do I need to compulsorily show some documents that have Chennai address on them?

I am quite sure local address proof is a mandatory requirement.

You will need a proof with a chennai address & photograph. A valid passport with chennai address would do ...

i think company letter address proof may be acceptable or bank account... i had this difficulty for landline when i shifted house in chennai and had to first change my passport address with company letter (they are the only guys who i know accept company letter head as address proof)
Got passport in 3 days and then used that for everything else...
