For a really long time ive been wantinh to buy a VPN for downloading torrents and watching
( ͡❛ ͜ʖ ͡❛) content
And also to mention i feel paranoid about my isp tracking me or losing my data while browsing torrents (this is not due to vpn ads or something)

Any suggestions on what should i do?

And for vpn I’m thinking to buy Mullvad as it offers monthly subscription at 445₹

Anti-piracy laws are not really enforced in India. In my opinion, getting a VPN just to download torrents is a waste of money. However, if you want to use one just for the sake of masking your country/location or accessing blocked content, then go for it.

There are group buys organized on other forums where you will only have to pay under Rs. 1000 for an year or 15 months.
Go check them out as well.

@Kyle Crane I do understand that feeling. When I first got my local ISP, I was similarly paranoid that they might be tracking what I am doing, even though I don't do anything for which I would feel any shame. However, I asked about it in various places and realised that the ISP might have much better things to do than track me.

Just use secure DNS, that will reduce the data which they can directly track.

You might think that they might be tracking you for advertisement or make data on you, however, how are you sure that the VPN providers won't do the same to you? The only difference would be that they might not know where you exactly live, unlike your ISP.

So, don't be too paranoid. It is not worth it.

I have heard good about them as well, but you should also remember that many VPNs result in anti-spam triggers from websites. So, you might also end up having to solve captches here and there. Besides that, since there is no Indian server in any decent VPN due to privacy issues, you will have to rely on Singapore server for your web browsing, which might slow it down a bit. Overall, I don't think you really need a VPN, at least right now.

Use tools like GoodByeDPI for everything other than torrenting or enable TLS 1.3 Kyber in chrome://flags or edge://flags
