I have got D-Link's DSL-502T modem and I'm using it since I got my TriBand connection a month ago. From the day one I'm not able to connect to the net in the evening time (6 PM to 12 AM). The ADSL light keeps blinking and the status page of the modem shows 31 db as the Line Attenuation (upstream) during that time.

Today I called the lines-man and got the wiring checked from their junction box. He did some rewiring on a particular part of the line and the technical fellow who was testing the line using their equipment told that my line is okay now.

But still I could not connect to the net in the evening today. So I took my modem to one of my friend's house and checked there. The ADSL light was not even blinking there. He has a Chinese make modem and it was working pretty well at his place that time.

I can connect to the net only after midnight and the statistics shown at that time are:
Code:
Item Downstream Upstream UnitSNR Margin 30 30 dBLine Attenuation 25 14 dBData Rate 2048 256 kbps
Should I go for a new modem or call the lines-man again?

By the way I've noticed that DSL-502T doesn't have ADSL2+ type of modulation which that friend of mine uses. I use T1.413 modulation as others fail to connect to the net.

when you took your modem at your friends place, was it working there or was the ADSL light blinking there also for your modem. If it was blinking there also, means it is modem fault. But according to me it is not modem fault, because whole day your modem works and after 6 it stops working, thats wierd,i guess its a ADSL problem in your exchange.try and contact the exchange and tell them and your ADSL light is not working. ORtry logging to 192.168.1.1,go to ADSL settings and change to G.DMT mode and ADSL type to Annex A.

@gauravmhatre: When I took my modem to my friend's place and connected there, the ADSL light was not even blinking. Atleast it blinks at my place during the evening time. The lines-man came today and again told me that the line is okay and I should call the customer care and follow their instructions to solve this problem. Since there is no point in talking to the walls, I asked you people for your advice. If I set the modulation of my modem to G.DMT, the ADSL light do not even blink. So I've no option but to use T1.413 as the modulation.Should I go for a new modem which one I should buy? Suggest me a good modem which can sync even when there is a lot of noise in the line.By the way is a high SNR value good or bad? Excuse me for being so novice but my SNR (downstream) value keeps fluctuating between 17 dB & 30 dB when my modem is connected to the net.

Can anybody give me good comparison between D-Link routers (wired) and Netgear routers (wired)?Which one of them scores over the other when the line becomes too noisy?
