Smartphone under Rs. 10,000

I guess Lenovo K3 Note is the best phone in this segment right now? I also plan to recommend Moto G2 and OnePlus X in case the person can spend more. Any phone I might be missing? Mi4i?

Android One page says that it would get updates for 2 years. IIRC that phone was launched at least 1-1.5 years ago. It would not get Android N?.

N might not happen. But for a phone in this price segment, it is unlikely that any of the current models are going to get Android N.

1st Gen Android One would most likely not get N so it's out of luck for Canvas A1 but 2nd Gen will get it (Lava Pixel V1).

Lava Pixel V1 is not an option. I would rather get Redmi Note 3. It's amazing to see that there isn't a single decent phone with small foot print in 10k range.

Why A1 may not get Android N update? It is getting regular updates every month so far. And I am assuming A1 should get N update. Still if it doesn't, I don't think any feature is missing as of now

Because only one Android One device (General Mobile 4G, which is a 2nd gen Android One device) has been listed as 'Eligible' for Android N Preview. So I'm not sure whether 1st Gen Android One devices would get it. The 1st gen devices came with Android 4.4.4 and it was updated all the way to 6.0.1 while the 2nd gen Android One devices came with Lollipop on board. It would keep getting security updated but it most probably won't get N.
