This is primarily for work from home. Work doesn't require any intensive computing power as such. But I'd love to carry it to cafes.

Requirements:

  • Durable
  • Lightweight
  • Decent battery backup
  • 14”
  • Not a fan of antiglare screens

I was thinking about using it for video processing occasionally (1080p, basic editing with color grading at max). And I actually was considering getting an M1 MacBook, but then I'm not sure if I wanna use it for day to day work.

Solution
M1 is great. Except that you would have to find a solution for low storage. Cloud Storage might be an option but not an elegant one.

But then alternative pc options would also sort of stop at 512GB though some models might have a secondary hard drive.

I think m1 comes with 250gb as minimum. That should be good enough for current projects.

Online storage and external drives do make sense to me. Once you're done with a project the files are not frequently accessed except for the recent ones.

M1 doesn't come with butterfly keyboard, right? They charge 25k to replace the entire keyboard even if a single key stops working.

In past couple of months laptop prices have gone up drastically. Although the silicon shortage seems to be easing. My Dell laptop which was stuck for parts for over a month in August, had no waiting in January.
