anyone done this please share how and when to do.
3. any downtime you guys faced and what is the resolution time.

These have already been answered multiple times. For sake of simplicity, here you go-
  1. Depends upon your location. Cities like Delhi, Bangalore, etc where the connection are directly provided by Airtel, not by LCO (local operators) are postpaid. Cities, where the connection is provided with help of LCOs, are prepaid.
  2. Once your connection is active. You can modify the plan whenever you want. The charges are pro-rata basis. After the day you change the plan, it would be charged per day as your new plan price. This is calculated by their internal system. My suggestion is to wait for a week after activation. Remember, you will lose all the extra benefits if there were any with your last plan and not the one you are switching to.
  3. Again, this depends upon your location and whether it's directly from Airtel or managed by LCOs. Based on other experience and mine too, I can say there are no major downtimes (consider some exceptional cases). Most of the downtimes will be your personal or area-wise, related to fiber cuts and this takes around 2-6hrs to resolve.
