Sony Pictures Networks India has set an October launch for Sony Vizha, its new Tamil-language general entertainment channel.

Flagship programming already lined up for the channel includes “Celebrity MasterChef Tamil” and “Tamil Idol,” hosted by Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman, part of a slate SPNI said will blend original programming, reality formats, movies and curated global entertainment for Tamil audiences across generations. Further programming and launch details will be revealed closer to the October debut, the company said.
