Handset maker Sony Ericsson on Thursday announced the launch of its two new smartphones — Xperia Arc and Xperia Play — priced at Rs 32,000 and Rs 35,000, respectively.
The Xperia range, which currently has five models, sold more than nine million handsets globally in 2010.
“The Android-based handsets are designed to provide the best multimedia experience to consumers. As social and digital media continues to change consumer experiences, our portfolio will complement this phenomenon, and take communication entertainment to the next level,” Sony Ericsson Country Head Pawan Chadha told reporters.
The company however, declined to comment on India specific numbers. “According to a recent report ‘Mobile Youth Around the World’ by media research firm Nielson, the Indian mobile phone market offers immense growth opportunity for smartphone, given that only 10% of the Indian youth have smartphones and 90% of them still have feature phones,” Chadha said.
Based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor, Xperia Arc is equipped with 10.6-cm touch screen, expandable memory up to 32GB and 8.1MP camera. Xperia Play, which allows users to play PlayStation Suite games on the handset, is equipped with four-inch screen and a 5.1MP camera.

No thanks ... had enough with Xperia X10 ... To all ... dont fall for this .. they wont update and thier customized android will have numerous bugs / crapware and it itself can hamper the performance...

Xperia Arc surely has some awesome features like just connect HDMI to your lcd and it will wake it up, the picture adjustment which automatically adjusts the resolutions, mmm and they are using bravia engine on this one, so, the multimedia experience is going to be quite awesome, they have a customized home screen which allows you to can scroll through most of the content available on your device, can't ignore the dang design of this piece of technology. Flagship device.
