@members/gr8salil/
Connection Airtel 256Kbps Modem 220BX1. Time: 0910AM 16th May 2008.
Type: Fast Line Coding: Trellis On Status: No Defect Link Power State: L0
.......................Downstream ......... Upstream
SNR Margin (dB): 20.3 18.0
Attenuation (dB): 28.0 4.5
Output Power (dBm): -3.7 0.1
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 9120 1400
Rate (Kbps): 2048 512 (* d/l u/l)
Even then my d/l will be steady max 30KB/sec. most of the time.
Tried different Mod as adsl2 adsl2 + T 413 , with similar results.
You can change the DNS to open DNS 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222
for some improvement.

This happens because of their inefficiencies & to most people who change their schemes, there has even been an instance recently where a new connection was set to DL 256 kbps. The only way is to complain repeatedly to 1504 or write to helpdesk or to GM broadband emails are available on this forum or on mtnl site.
