I have said this earlier but just for everyone's knowledge..its an ego issue here between Tata Sky and Dish...the culprit is the past sourness between Star and Zee....Star Plus became a hindi channel about more than a decade ago, much against the legal agreement between Zee and Star.Star Plus became hindi, since they felt after roaping in ex-director of Doordashan (Mr Rathikant Basu at a salary of Five Hundred Thousand US dollars per year), they could imitate the profitability of its partner Zee. But he did a flop show by re-running all Doordashan serials like Alif Laila etc. It was Peter Mukherjea (now owner of 9X and his wife is a puppet owner of 9X networks too) and Sameer Nair (now Chief of NDTV Imagine) who are credited for transforming Star Plus and of course Star TV to number one slot, primarily due to KBC.That was a strong comeback for both Amitabh and Star's journey straight to the top.Next, was Zee and Star poaching each other's creative (excuse that word, since there is no creativity in our hindi serials anymore) producers and directors for their big league shows...these are only some instances.Star never allowed its channels to come on Dish citing piracy reasons...this is what they mentioned to TRAI when Zee cried foul like a kid. However, the real reason was...as we know it...Star was planning Tata Sky launch soon so they didnt want Zee to capture market share so easily.Well thats history for you.

TS had to eat its pie. Sun did not allow its channels in TS platform, till its launch plans were firmed up and till it was forced by TRAI (more or less, because TS and Sun withdrew their appeals and went for a off court settlement). You reap what you sow. Now SCV, cable wing of sun is paying for its sins against other cable operators.

Even ZEE & STAR fighting on issues like serials subjects which appearently always same when new (mega) serials are launched

Just a wild thought. Problem of sharing popular channels with other service providers will recur often, when broadcaster is also a service provider. If the producer/broadcaster wants to have exclusivity, he may be allowed to reserve one channel from each category (entertainment, news, movies, sports etc.) for his exclusive use; as a compensation, he must provide all his other channels free.

This problem is worldwide. In UK also SKY refused to provide its premium channels like Sports & Movies to Virgin Cable Networks and only after intervention from OFCOM (regulatory body in UK like TRAI) they had to provide channels to Virgin which is causing tough competition to SKY
