I have now seen more than a few episodes and can now see the whole charm behind the original series. It takes a while to get used to the characters on a show that was made when our parents were our age (younger in most cases). I now look forward to every single episode and enjoy it thoroughly. Sure some of them are awful with just terrible stories. But the beauty lies in the interactions between the characters and some of the funniest dialogues I have heard in the Star Trek franchise and otherwise. Kirk, Spock, Bones, Scotty, Sulu... Fantastic characters. It's hard not to fall in love with all of them.
