No. It's not that. I totally got it. The movie has tons of plots and subplots which have been used and misused by sci-fi movies and television shows in the past couple of decades. So, I can see how much influence it has on this genre considering it created this genre. It's pretty incredible actually. Personally, I was disappointed with 2001: A Space Odyssey but again, it was extraordinary in a sense that it was shot in 1960s! I guess it is just hard to appreciate stuff like this. Just like kids of today would never get the coolness of stuff that was cool in the 80s and 90s.
Oh btw Star Wars itself is a huge copy pasta of other comics and movies of that time. It even borrows heavily from Kurosawa, which people might see as misuse.
Also, its not any kind of first great space epic, considering Star Trek started 10 years before Star Wars, and i'd have said 2001 as well, but it seems it didn't live up to your standards (Read the books maybe) :p

I wanted to see the Star Trek with Kirk but ended up getting the series with Picard. No regrets. Picard is awesome. Yet to finish TNG though... It really got painful in the middle.

I started from TOS and have managed to get to TNG now. But because of this, i can't watch anything else. Have download Jessica Jones and want to download The Expanse, but can't. ;-;

And I do not really get the point of Death Stars. If they can be destroyed with a few photo torpedo hits. Two have been destroyed in the first six movies and looks like the third is destroyed in the seventh one?

So I just finished off with Ep3 today which I slept over yesterday, maybe when it had reached half the part. The ending was nice and it was setting stage for Ep4 released back in 1977 :D
