Hello,

I need to buy new AC for 190 sqft room top floor (sun directly hits the roof). So I know I need at least 2 Ton, but confusion is many people says that few brands 1.5 Ton AC's cooling is equivalent to 2 Ton in the other. So which brand I need and what tonnage?

A bit history on why I want new AC.
My first AC was 1.5 ton Voltas non inverter, It ran good the first year but cooling reduced from next year.
Many technicians have visited only to tell me that my AC is running perfectly. God knows what happened. But it won't chill the room as it used to do before and the compressor continues to run and room temp goes down but very slow. After so many diagnostics I came to a conclusion that because the unit was not vacuumed at install time, it's cooling efficiency was reduced but all technicians deny this fact. But I don't want to waste anymore time and money on this, I would rather buy new. My current AC already 5 years old now but this problem started happening since 2020, I bought it in 2019. In a nutshell I want to avoid this voltas brand all together.

Back to where we were, this post is about which brand's AC is must buy and what tonnage do I need 1.5 or 2 and it's cooling capacity, I want non inverter only.

Regards!

Technician came again, finalized everything, he added more gas because last time due to pump down procedure some gas was wasted that's why grill temp was increased. Now it's running good.
@igloo
Yes, always checked with lowest fan speed. Now grill temp is around 11 . I'm happy with how things have turned out, the customer support was helpful so as the technicians.
Once I paint the roof with solar reflective paint, ac performance should improve further.

@Jonas when you say give up, did you mean it's not cooling as per requirement? Or has it gone toast?
Or maybe the heat was just too much even for the ac's? 🤔

It’s not cooling. Technician visit has been scheduled. It’s being used for 4 years now. So I would assume it has developed leaks. Baki dekhe 🤷

The other two ACs are operating and cooling just fine.

My LG AC is not cooling much, I also want to diagnose it as technician visited several times and it did not make a difference. How to diagnose? Mine does not have WiFi.

Off topic: samsung inverter ac is emitting foul smell. No gas leak. It’s fairly new AC just 2 months old.

Also compressor is shutting down itself with following scenario:

AC is 1.5 ton inverter samsung

1. Set AC to 28 C
2. Ac is running at 2000 W and reached the temperature and compressor slowed down to 750 watts
3. Compressor keeps running at that watts and now room temperature reached 25.5 C even when AC temp was set to 28
4. Now compressor fully stopped at 25 C
5. Now room temperature again reached 29C
6. Compressor started again.

Is this good behaviour of inverter technology AC or something is wrong ?

@Rickysin that foul smell is due to all the moisture run it on dry mode/ air throw mode for 6-10 hrs and that should take care of it.

also can you check if any water is collecting in indoor unit due to blocked/bend drain pipe

Tried running it on dry mode and still no improvement. Samsung engineer doesn’t understand the problem and just closing the complaint.

Also there is no water collecting in indoor unit.

I will never buy Samsung AC ever again. Pathetic after sales service. What is the use of 5. Years warranty if there cannot even provide service lol

About the compressor getting shutdown, it happens in my Voltas AC too. If I set it to 29, it would bring the temperature to 28 and shutdown. Reaches 30 and then turns on again. The same doesn’t happen if I set it to 28 or 27. I think a forum member answered this thing, but I don’t remember who.

About the foul smell, it should definitely be escalated. What type of smell is it?
