Hello,

I need to buy new AC for 190 sqft room top floor (sun directly hits the roof). So I know I need at least 2 Ton, but confusion is many people says that few brands 1.5 Ton AC's cooling is equivalent to 2 Ton in the other. So which brand I need and what tonnage?

A bit history on why I want new AC.
My first AC was 1.5 ton Voltas non inverter, It ran good the first year but cooling reduced from next year.
Many technicians have visited only to tell me that my AC is running perfectly. God knows what happened. But it won't chill the room as it used to do before and the compressor continues to run and room temp goes down but very slow. After so many diagnostics I came to a conclusion that because the unit was not vacuumed at install time, it's cooling efficiency was reduced but all technicians deny this fact. But I don't want to waste anymore time and money on this, I would rather buy new. My current AC already 5 years old now but this problem started happening since 2020, I bought it in 2019. In a nutshell I want to avoid this voltas brand all together.

Back to where we were, this post is about which brand's AC is must buy and what tonnage do I need 1.5 or 2 and it's cooling capacity, I want non inverter only.

Regards!

@Rickysin
That means compressor can't run below 750w and if it keep itself on at that power room temp gets too low for the set temperature so compressor cuts off.
My Marq 1 ton ac can't go below 370w usage while LG 1.5 ton can run at 250w as it's a dual inverter compressor.
So the marq ac also cuts off the compressor as room is small while Lg keeps going on between 250-400 whole night when set at 28deg.

@Rickysin , yes I too have observed that behaviour. I set it at 28C, reaches 28, turns down the speed, but still keeps on cooling until it reaches like 25C, before shutting down. Turns on when the ambient temperature is above the set temperature.

I am assuming, this could be happening, because I am using an oversized AC. I needed 1.2 T, but have 1.5 T. But that's just my thoery. Or because the compressor is still running, despite reaching the temperature, but at lower speed, so it tries to cool the room although slowly.

Had to detune it to run at 40% capacity so that it comes down to something around 280W and I don't end up waking frozen in the middle of the night.

If they cannot understand your complaint, register some other complaint that there is water leakage. When tne technician comes, make him smell the foul odour. If still denying, lock that Samsung technician in your AC room for the entire day. All problems wil suddenly become visible.

@Tejas01 my room size is 10x15 . So is 1.5 ton oversized for this room size ? Even if i make it run at 40% still it runs on 750W and then chills at 25 C and shuts down compressor lol
