Hello,

I need to buy new AC for 190 sqft room top floor (sun directly hits the roof). So I know I need at least 2 Ton, but confusion is many people says that few brands 1.5 Ton AC's cooling is equivalent to 2 Ton in the other. So which brand I need and what tonnage?

A bit history on why I want new AC.
My first AC was 1.5 ton Voltas non inverter, It ran good the first year but cooling reduced from next year.
Many technicians have visited only to tell me that my AC is running perfectly. God knows what happened. But it won't chill the room as it used to do before and the compressor continues to run and room temp goes down but very slow. After so many diagnostics I came to a conclusion that because the unit was not vacuumed at install time, it's cooling efficiency was reduced but all technicians deny this fact. But I don't want to waste anymore time and money on this, I would rather buy new. My current AC already 5 years old now but this problem started happening since 2020, I bought it in 2019. In a nutshell I want to avoid this voltas brand all together.

Back to where we were, this post is about which brand's AC is must buy and what tonnage do I need 1.5 or 2 and it's cooling capacity, I want non inverter only.

Regards!

Sure, you can get a fixed speed AC. Your reasons are good

Somebody on youtube said, no point in taking inverter AC's if there's air leak or if room is not fully insulated.

There are far FAR too many idiots on youtube and I would like some proof when they utter nonsense like this. Some locals also have the misconception, same capacity noninverter ac is some how better than inverter ac when it comes to cooling the room. 🤦‍♂️
Another one you'll find is, they recommend putting C32 MCBs on a load which only consumes 6-7-8A current 🤦‍♂️

There a video on youtube title Best AC 2023 | AC Buying Guide 2023 | Best 1.5 Ton 5 Star AC in India 2023, by vineet malhotra (light green t shirt). It starts at 2:57, he says if there's air leakage in the room, inverter ac will work like non inverter and it's power saving features won't work because the cold air will constantly leak outside.

Given your situation, most members have suggested good options. I would also like to recommend one brand which is Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. And I would also suggest to go for Fixed one rather than inverter because given the circumstances, the inverter will be working as a fixed one because it won't get the opportunity to reduce the speed of the compressor.

You would be better off by an additional 0.5 ton from what is usually required to deal with the additional heat source as it would make the AC struggle to cool your room. So, for the room size, suggestions are 1.5T, then go for 2T.

I referred to this guy's channel before getting one for myself. This guy has similar conditions you have described. Yet his inverter AC does a decent job.

Do note that the video is 4 years old, so quite must have changed.

Yeah, I watched this video as well, but after buying my previous AC. Pretty similar conditions his room is little small compared to mine. I've heard LG ac's have lower cooling capacity than claimed, a 1.5 ton is 4600 W while my current one has 5120 W, yet it's still struggles. But I appreciate your advise about the additional 0.5 ton. So I need 2T that is a confirmed thing if I don't want to make the same mistake twice.

O general, Daikin, LG, Mitsubishi Heavy and Panasonic. These are the only brands I'm looking at.
