Suggestion: CDMA Phone in the range of Rs. 10-15K?

My dad has a Reliance CDMA SIM and he's been using it for business purposes for a long time. He doesn't want to switch to GSM cause Reliance GSM network isn't very reliable. He uses this cause he travels across India alot for business purposes. That's why CDMA.

I have no idea how CDMA phones work and what an embedded SIM is, but cant you get something like this: BRAND NEW HTC EVO 4G (UNLOCKED) ANDROID SMARTPHONE | eBay and use it here? CDMA phones seem to go pretty cheap on ebay.com.

Thats a pretty good deal! But will it work with Reliance? Cause its by Sprint... :/

cdma networks are definitely much better here in india. i use tata indicom as my backup connection. it has saved my ass so many times because airtel has signal and call quality problems at so many locations.

It will work but only after registering it's MEID with reliance (which end user can't do directly), unlocking MSL, NAM & Data provisioning the handset with Reliance network.
It won't work out of the box directly when imported from Ebay US.

Go for the handsets suggested from the RIMweb forum earlier in the topic. You'll get the latest and best imported CDMA handsets at prices unthinkable in GSM. I am an active member there.

Do not bother for CDMA SIM enabled handset only as you won't get any because all US CDMA networks run with programmed handsets for all models.
Even if your dad currently has a Reliance CDMA SIM, transferring that number to the imported handset is not an issue and can be done easily. The seller will explain the process to you.

This is a global phone, which means you can use it in Reliance CDMA (programming ) and it can also be used for any GSM network after inserting SIM. This is either network but one at a time.

Another model which i suggest if you like QWERT Slider Keyboard is Sprint Samsung Epic 4G. This also can be had within 15K.
