ISP
Jio fiber
Hello everyone. As the title suggests I'm looking for a new internet connection, I used to have Jio fiber, but I'm trying to switch as the customer service I received after they stole 21k from me was abysmal. They refused to refund and I do not wish to continue with them after the one year sub gets over. This mostly stems from the fact that ideally Jio fiber will not run into any sort of trouble, but when it does, the customer service you receive makes you regret your choices.

Coming to the question, while I was looking for available ISPs I'm the area, I've seen that I've Airtel, that is offering the same plan(300mbps unlimited +OTT at 1768) as Jio fiber and their cs was good, but it takes some time for any issue to get resolved and also latency issues were there last time I subscribed to Airtel. Another option was Excitel but where I'm from they only offer the 150 Mbps plan. And ACT fiberner is offering 1gbps plan at the same price as Jio and Airtel i.e at 1768, but with less number of OTT channels, which sounds too good to be true. My questions are is anyone using the same plan? How is ACT customer service and any cons of using ACT that you would like to call out? And is the switch from Airtel/Jio fiber 300mbps to ACT 1GBPS plan worth it as the ACT plan has a data cap of 3500 gb per month? The primary purposes are gaming, office work, 4k streaming. Total of 6 laptops, 6 smart phones and one Smart TV, 3-4 smart speakers(Alexa) are connected to the network at all times(just connected not 24 hours simultaneous usage)

Tldr: what is in your opinion the best network to go to and why? The available options are Airtel 300mbps unlimited data at 1768/ same plan with jio fiber /1GBPS speed with ACT at a data cap of 3500 gb at the same cost. What are some pros and cons for the same.

Hello @balayya , As we don't know where you're from so we can't say pretty much about ISPs you've mentioned.

But, If you want to Opt for any of the ISPs mentioned above. You can follow these steps before choosing any ISP for your convenience services.

1. Internet Service Quality : Try to reach them and ask regarding the Service Quality provided by them to the customers. This way, you'll get generalised idea about there behaviour, availability, usage and other factors regarding the internet.

2. Visit Neighbourhood House : Whichever you're going to choose, Just Go and ask them regarding there ISP usage, pros and cons they've faced since the installation time. This way, You can cover-up all the factors as per your convenience.

3. Perform Some Internet Tests : While you're at some other person house, Ask them for there Wi-Fi access and perform the basic tests required to be done like Speed Test, Tracert, Latency and whatever other factors you require.

These all factors will let you know enough details regarding the ISP which you'll be going to OPT for. Although Visiting other people house without knowing them is not good but it is one of the best way to know about the ISP.

I have both Airtel and Jio fiber connections and based on my own experience, I will not recommend you to get Airtel. I am using Jiofiber for 3 years and I was having some issues with zoom calls. That was the reason I got Airtel as most of the review videos on youtube about Airtel were positive.

The Airtel guy came and took the money stating installation team would visit in 1 hour, but for installation I had to make multiple calls for 2 days for it to actually happen. Even then Internet stopped working in an hour after installation, and no one came to fix it for 2 days. The plan was 3300 airtel black plan with 150Mbps speed and somehow al 3300 Rs disappeared within a month with all of the useless dth addon packs marked as activated that I never requested appearing in the bill after a month. Any complaint raised from Airtel thanks app is closed within 24hours without any resolution. Getting to actual customer care on call is another battle as you can only reach one after pressing 30+ buttons and spending 5+ minutes going through there whole IVR to find the f***ing customer care option. All this when they say you get a dedicated relationship guy for black option.

So yeah, I will not recommend going for Airtel.

My family has been on Airtel ever since I could speak. Naturally we use Airtel Fiber too. 2 lines infact.

Both the lines have been rock solid, have excellent uptime, proper communication whenever there's going to be an outage and their routers for general use has been fantastic barring the locked down settings.

Their routing from my place is fast enough to most of the websites I visit although there has been some cases where their DNS records were stale and outdated and broken websites were being served to our devices. Nothing a public DNS resolver couldn't fix though.

OTT and Content Delivery has always been 10/10 from Airtel. Be it on my primary 200 Mbps Plan and our secondary 40 Mbps plan. Even with multiple devices connected and with active use, there has never been an issue with buffering and resolution losses.

Customer service for the most part in my city has been satisfactory but it could be waaayyyy better. The reps aren't very knowledgable and the field executives are most skilled in wiring up your house than setting your router up.
