TN govt-owned MSO drags Channel Plus before TDSAT over signalsNew Delhi (PTI): The Tamil Nadu government-owned Multi System Operator (MSO) Arasu Cable TV on Monday dragged Maran brothers-promoted Sun TV group distributor Channel Plus to broadcast tribunal TDSAT for not giving signals.Arasu Cable TV, 100 per cent owned by the state government, has also filed similar petitions against two others broadcasters -- MSM Discovery, distributor of Sony and Discovery group of channels, and Star Den Media, distributor of Star group of channels. In its petition, filed through advocate Meet Malhotra, Arasu Cable alleged that it had approached the broadcasters for their channels but failed to get any positive response and they tried to delay the issue."Way back in November 2007 the petitioner has initiated the process of request of signals from broadcasters, including the respondent's principal (Sun TV Network Limited)... However, the respondents completely denied the receipt of the request," the petition said. The matter would come up for hearing before the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal on Tuesday.Arasu Cable further submitted that since there was no response from Channel Plus's principal Sun TV, it wrote to them again on June 23, 2008."On it, respondents principal (Sun TV) has written a letter asking the petitioner to contact the respondent (Channel Plus), who is the authorized distributor of SUN group TV channels, although this could very well have been done by SUN TV Network Ltd itself," said Arasu Cable TV requesting TDSAT to pass an interim order directing Channel Plus to provide signals of Sun TV channels.
