Switch between 3G and 2G (GPRS) as needed?

Is it possible to switch between GPRS and 3G mode (even in 3G areas) from your mobile handset as needed?If yes, do lower GPRS data rates apply or will the charges be same as 3G?Thx in advance for your replies.

u can select 2g/3g from network settings in ur mobile..if ur on 3G then 3g rates Apple..if on 2g then 2g rates apply

I think there is option in mobile called Dual Mode and GSM mode.. if you switch to GSM mode, u will always get 2G.
If you switch to Dual mode, u will get 3G in 3G areas... but u may have to restart mobile everytime you switch modes.

Also I am NOT sure if ISPs specify different rates for 3G and 2G...if u have applied for 3G.. u will always be charged at 3G rates...afterall u are forced to use 2G when u r in area which doesnt support 3G.

So its mobile operators fault/problem and not urs.
