Switch from UTStar 300R2U Router to DLink WiFi Router

Hello friends, I plan to change my Router and would like to know if I could face any problems regarding the same : Planning to Switch from UTStar 300R2U Router to D-Link WiFi Router since I would be using a Laptop and doing away with my Desktop. Is the switch easy for non-techie users like me ? Can the settings/ configuration be changed without visiting the MTNL Office ? Also, since there is a change in the Router Company make (from UTStar to DLInk) can I change the settings/ configuration myself by visiting the 192.168.1.1 webpage or need some help from 1504 Call Center ? Or would be really glad to get help from the techies on this Forum (this would be the best option ) Please feel free to suggest any other WiFi Router for MTNL Triband (other than DLink) Thanks in Advance, EquityExpert

well i'm sure we will be able to help.. can you please specify your D-Link wifi router model no?is it an adsl router?

members/equityexpert/Welcome to Broadbandforum.in.1.If you have not still purchased the laptop , ask the technical person/s at the shop to set up internet connection settings in it, for you.( immaterial which modem you use or if you prefer take the UTstar modem to the shop )Just come home and connect the Rj45 cable to your laptop and you are connected !2.Else duplicate internet connection settings from your desktop to laptop.and get connected to Internet. .Details if you need.3. Then you decide to go for a wireless router to make your Laptop free from all cable connections for Internet.
