Switching to Excitel Fiber after using Airtel Xstream Fiber for 9 months

I got Airtel Xstream Fiber (200 mbps) installed in June 2023. First I got a used Noklia 2425G-A installed,, later after multiple complaints they replaced and installed dasan h660gm-a which overheated like crazy and rebooted randomly. The team leader refused to replace the router even after multiple complaints due to which I had to book another airtel fiber connection and they installed the Sercomm 4221sr which was a faulty unit and after multiple complaints and social media posts, they agreed to replace it and installed the same variant again. The pings are very high and unstable and on reaching the technicians, they said that they can't do anything and its just how it works. Internet is working fine and pings doesn't matter.
We are a family of 3 and only have 4 devices that use data simultaneously, 2 of which only use facebook, youtube and sometimes internet banking. Which never properly, videos buffer like crazy and banking apps hardly work.
So I finally decided to get Excitel Fiber installed after hearing positive reviews from the neighbors using it. I opted for the 300mbps plan and they should install it tomorrow. Suggest me the best router they provide and which routers to avoid?

edit: Would you guys suggest switching to excitel fiber or shall I keep using the airtel fiber?

Test excitel before ditching Airtel completely. You can downgrade ur plan or use safe custody if postpaid.

Excitel is not really known for quality service.

Airtel is really providing poor ont/router. They gave me some titanium 2122 something variant it's so shit with high pings to the router itself. Poor 5ghz range and requires restart after 24 hrs or wifi become laggy.

Previous zte ont they gave was best, didn't restarted that for weeks.

You can try buying your router connect it in access point mode and disable wifi on Airtel router. I am thinking to do that later.

I'm not disconnecting airtel right away,, will test excitel for 2-3 days. They provide a refund period of 5 days if user don't like the service. Even if I switch to Excitel, will use the safe custody thing as I have the postpaid black connection.

I won't trust any refund claims, once you paid very unlikely to get money back.

now I doubt it as the sales guy said I can opt for a disconnection and get a refund within 5-7 working days if I didn't like the services.
Although services seem to be fine, a friend's using it, lives nearby so it should be decent ig

Nothing strange. Don't trust sales of any company, they will disappear once you have paid.

Once you pay they can directly claim it is a prepaid connection all your money went to recharge, just like mobile phone plans and all

I have no experience with excitel but with bad ISP yes.

Experience varies from LCO to LCO and I've even seen same LCO treating different people differently so no harm in experimenting i guess.

About router all the "One device solution" serving as ONU and router have troubled all the users at some point so majority people including me follow converting it into Dumb ONU and using own better router.

Definitely no. That's way too long period. May be 3-6 months Max once I know service is okayish.

See how many people got stuck with jio air fiber 6 month plans.

You get some discount but all risk is yours now if you pay for an year.
