Though there were several directors in the race to direct Ajith’s 50th film, the opportunity has been bagged by Venkat Prabhu, we hear. A few months ago there were reports that Ajith expressed his interest to work with the director. Things apparently started taking shape soon after an informal meet between the director and the actor.

There is a strong buzz in Kollywood that Venkat Prabhu has narrated a story to Ajith and the Ultimate Star has consented to star in it. It is said that the project would take off soon after Ajith completes his Asal and Venkat Prabhu is off with Goa.

After a few rounds of guesswork and speculations, news is finally out about Ajith’s 50th movie. It’s not Vishnuvardhan but Gautham Menon, who will direct Ajith. The project will be produced by Dayanidhi Azhagiri’s Cloud 9 productions. Gautham shares camaraderie with Dayanidhi since their Vaaranam Aayiram days. With a change in garb and appearance being the order of the day, it would be interesting to note the kind of change Ajith undergoes for this Gautham project.

Ajith’s Asal is fast being wrapped up while Gautham has readied Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya for an early 2010 release.

Looks like Venkat Prabhu’s Goa will after all not release for Pongal. According to reliable sources from the distribution side, Goa is not yet ready for release during the Pongal weekend. The reason being pending works in the background score addition by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

With that the scene of Pongal releases is more or less clear. Dhanush’s Kutty, Karthi’s Aayirathil Oruvan and Lawrence’s Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam are the sure-shot releases for Pongal.

Ilayaraja buys Paa’s remake rights
Paa featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan has been released and is running successfully. The highlight of this film is that Amitabh is acting as the son and Abhishek is donning the role of Amitabh’s father. Ilayaraja has composed the music while Balakrishna has directed this. The film is doing excellently well throughout the world.

This film is being remade in Tamil now. Ilayaraja has acquired the rights of this film. It is said tat he is planning to remake the film in Tamil and Telugu. Now the question is who will play the lead roles in the remade version?

Tamil cinema, in its entirety, is broiling over the issue of Jaggubhai’s illegal release over internet. This hullaballoo also seems to have toppled over the team’s release plans. As a result, Jaggubhai, which was a sure shot Pongal release earlier, will not hit the screens as planned.

There are still last minute touchup jobs pending, which are being taken care of, according to a producer’s source. In view of this, the movie will be released on January 29th, two weeks after the expected Pongal weekend.

Following the leak of Jaggubhai in the internet, the team has decided to change the climax. Further, several minor changes have been made in the film so that it is in sync with the climax. Sources say that Sarathkumar and KS Ravi Kumar discussed about the changes soon after it was found that Jaggubhai was available in CDs and on the net even before the release.
