Tata Docomo launches pay per site data plan - NDTV Profit

You're assuming that there ever was Net Neutrality in India. Sadly, there really isn't - many ISPs are guilty of sending traffic offshore (usually to Singapore) and back, even if the data being exchanged is going to different nodes in the same city. The difference between them? Choice of ISP.

I've come to know from my discussions with people in the South Pacific that this is called Tromboning, although the terminology may differ elsewhere.

I for one am all for net neutrality however Tata is merely giving an option here for those who pay for browsing on GPRS to reduce their costs because they only use the one or 2 sites: if I used only Gmail and Facebook, I'd be happier to pay Rs10 than Rs50 or Rs95 for the same.

Of course, I don't personally fit in to that category so this wouldn't work for me, but it might work for, say for example, my wife, who only really uses her Yahoo! mail (or rather, it might work if she was using a phone other than Blackberry).
