Hi!Can someone help me since the tata customer service ppl can't understand. I have a Tata 2mb limited connection with night time add-on plan. I never go online in the morning, and only surf during the night. From the 12th of this month, my password keeps changing on the tata page. When it first happened, I called tata customer service and got it reset and then I changed my password. Within a few hours, again I couldn't use that password, again called tata, reset it, changed it, again the password changed after a few hours. My usage showed that someone went online during the morning and even at night, when I had been trying to log on, that person was online.I have tried explaining all this to the Tata customer service, but they are not helpful. All they do is reset the password, and then it changes again. In fact, one time was while I was talking with the customer care, and tried to login again to the Tata usage page, the password had changed.I have AVG internet security, and windows firewall on. But I additionally made certain by scanning my computer online with bitfender, trend, mcfee etc and also downloaded MBAM and other anti-virus software, all scans came up clear. Except for low level cookies, nth major showed up.I don't have a wireless or a router connection. My connection comes direct from the building terrace, which make my connection static. I am the only one who knows my password, and I never save the password in Windows. I cannot understand how this is possible. Since 12th Nov, I must have changed my password 15 times, but to no avail. Can someone pls give me a clue what to do. My money is being used up and I am getting no help from Tata.Thanx,TataVictim!

so you are pretty sure that there is no keylogger installed on your system? that makes it pretty complicated.

For the virus scans, I removed the system restore, then scanned my computer, and only turned them back on after the scans came back clean. If you know of some special program that will locate keylogger, let me know.Last scan I did was from Cnet who suggested I download, cclean, MBAM, and super antispyware. What should I do, scan my computer every hour, I still have AVG on and the windows firewall. You think perhaps those are not working?I even check ipconfig to c if my ip address is showing and it is. Still this problem persists.Tatavictim

well the only way i can think of to make sure that your computer is not bugged is by using a linux live cd for a couple of hours and see if your password is changed even then. if it does, someone at Tata is messing around with you. it seems rather not possible that someone is capturing packets on your network to steal your password. in a perfect world, tata would record the IPs being used to access the account and see if there is an outsider playing with your account.

Hi!Can u tell me what a linux live cd is?Will it work with Windows XP, browser is IE8.Tonight I had to call Tata twice to reset my password. Pls. note, I had not scanned my computer before or after the problem. I have now scanned it online with a-squared Web Malware - online scanner. Here are its findings. 4 objected detected.Trace.TrackingCookie.atdmt!A2 - Low riskTrace.TrackingCookie.com!A2 - Low riskTrace.TrackingCookie.questionmark!A2 - low riskTrace.TrackingCookie.specificclick!A2 - low riskThe last one, it that a keylogger? When I first time called customer service, and relayed my problem, he said perhaps i was hacked. He himself checked my ip address, and he said it shows 10.28.176.43. I told him, that's not my address. But at that time I didn't c the significance of that. I just told him to reset my password.Anyway, I have since then checked online with what is my ip address, and found out the ip address is a private one and since the beginning is 10.28, it should be a tata user.P.S: This all I found out on 12th of Nov. I called Tata and told them to check the ip since its one of their users, but they say they can't do that. When I got this response, I went online to c, how I can check my ip address and discovered the cmd - ipconfig thing. I have since then been checking on and off with ipconfig and it shows my ip address. I have even tried tracert to c whether somone else in btw is hacking, but nope, it shows my comp name, tata server (maa0 sth and other ip address which I check on what is my ip address and they show its registered to Tata) and then the other websites that are open on my comp. For a while there I even used to keep my windows task manager on, and check my CPU usage and network. CPU usuage would be like 3 to 5% max, and networking graph was LAN 0.25% to 0.33% (when I was downloading). At present, CPU is 4% and LAN is 0.04%. From the net I c, its not that bad. I did however get a heart attack when I saw one of the processes running at 99%, but after searching online, System Idle Process should run that high.As I said, since 12th I have scanned my comp with all the virus scanners I could find. I seriously thought this problem had been solved with the ccleaner-MBAM-super anti-spyware, but as I said, tonight at 9pm, couldn't log on with my password, had to reset it, and then again at 12 sth, had to call to reset it.Pls. let me know where to get the linux live cd, and if its freeware.Or if u know of some other solution. So sorry for the long post. :)ThanxTataVictim

well a great solution would be to use Wubi - Ubuntu Installer for Windows

it would download and install ubuntu along with your windows installation safely.

then you can boot into linux and try connecting to the web.

or you can download ubuntu ISO file and burn it on a CD and boot using it.

also, consider installing a more capable firewall. windows firewall has limited features i believe.

Hi!Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate this. I have downloaded the wubi-ubuntu installer, but there isn't much information on the site. Can u direct me to a good site that explains in detail how to install the stuff, preferable with lots of screenshots.I have never used a linux operating system, so a site explaining how I can enter linux will also be helpful.I have windows firewall and AVG full version for 30days trial. Before I had the free version, but after all this, I decided to use the trial version. I'm using at present AVG full version. What other firewall do u recommend? Zonealarm?ThanxTatavictim!

oh well just run it and it would do the rest for you. it would however download 700MB worth of data (linux). i am not sure if you are paying per MB at night time or not. so take that into consideration. it is pretty much self explanatory once it is installed. btw. how do you connect to the net? you use a router or a modem? usb or ethernet? i just know that you login from Tata website! before installing linux i guess it would be better to see if your tata connection would work on linux! as for firewall, pick any decent one. zonealarm should be fine. comodo is also great.

Hi!Sorry about not coming online sooner.700MB is a lot, but wat 2 do.I have an internal modem in my computer and connect via the ethernet jack. No router, no wireless etc. I also always remove the wire when I'm not online.I called the Tata ppl, these guys don't have a clue what I was talking about. In the end one of them has put up a complaint and said technician will come to c what I need. Referring to the tata working on linux issue here.I also have personally visited the Tata office and made a lot of hoopla... Not sure if that worked, but one good news to report was that I wasn't hacked yesterday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If there is no more problems with my password, I will not install linux yet. I will wait and c what the tech guy says. At present I can go online, if I install linux and can't come online, then I will definitely be screwed.Thank you so much for all your help and insight. Pls. pray that no more hacking happens. I hate fiddling around with my comp. I firmly believe in the adage, "If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it." :)TataVictim!

The reason your password was changed b'coz of ur "Secret Question" May be your answer was easy to guess.. Coz thats the only way a End user Can change his/her password..
