Tata Sky DTH now replacing MPEG2 STBs with MPEG4 STBs for free!

I am not sure anybody noticed it. Tata Sky finally added Zee Tamizh channel recently. But Zee Tamizh looks somewhat like DD Podhigai on many occasions. Very very so and so glitz. Not even proper lighting.

Got the new (free) box since they moved Comedy Central to MPEG4.
Pretty surprising that they didn't even need to change the power adapter or remote, just replaced the box.

Finally contacted Tata Sky today and reminded them that they still haven't reverted back about the 2 month old SMS about the upgrade. Within hours, it was replaced. Phew.

I have been usuing the new MPEG4 STB for aroud 3-4 monhs now, from my experiance its far worst than the old box wich had good proccessing speed when changing channels and it almost never hang up or cause any problem. This new box has a mind of its own, it changes the channels automaticaly, reboots randomly and goes to standby rondomly... The one and only good thing about the box is the singal quality is better than the old one. And also notice there's a USB port at the back, does it got any use?

I agree, the new box is slower and the smaller on screen text is another problem.

I also observed random channel changes, not sure what is triggering channel change when none of remotes were operated.
USB port could be for future feature supports like using external USB HDD or pen-drive to record.
I am using USB pen-drive for recording on Airtel STB.
