Tata Sky DTH: Recording Tv on the PC from the Set Top Box

What is the difference between this Tv tuner card and the 55/50 e by Pinnacle itself? Because my computer guy brought either the 50 e or 55 e one over and just somehow couldn't get it to load the channels...(when the initial setup was being done) I then got those free channels that my old cable provider used to provide via direct cable... but as soon as I tried from the STB no luck whatsoever... Thanks alot for your help I was wondering whether you had a working system of such in place? Thanks again...

You have to connect the AV from the STB to the PCTV 100e and this unit in turn connects via USB to your computer, how difficult is that and how can it not work, no rocket science here. His unit must be bad or something. We have supplied more than 100 units of PCTV 100e to doctors doing endoscopy, dentists and other medical professionals who want to record the treatment and then make CD/DVD from the Computer to give to the clients. It is the easist and most simplest setup possible. We have been selling this unit for the past 2 yrs or more.

Is is not possible to record if i use a External TV Tuner Card. Is it necessary to use the internal card only.

I would once again like to thank everyone for all their opinions! But just out of curiosity does any one have a similar system running/working for themselves?

Not personally but have setup this kind of a connections for my customers as a tech

I don't have a media center... That is why I was asking you if I can get whatever it is that is required for the Media center to work installed in my CPU...

Pinnacle 100e should actually be a hassle free setup four you & it's very economically priced.

Avermedia TV Tuner Cards are best in class ....... though they will cost you much more but if u want quality then nothing but AverTV Pro. it includes everything that u need. also try VDOmate they are also good but i think they too merged with Avermedia like Philips TVTuner did. and oh .... u can record thru external tv tuner also......... soo check out.......cheers...

Alright thanks to everyone for their input... But now the problem is as such: I bought a Pinnacle 55e Tv tuner card and connected it to my STB with the wires they provided... The problem is after the scan... the TV Tuner cannot catch the channels off the STB and leaving me with only with a mirror image of what is on the STB. So it has taken the whole STB as 1 single channel! e.g If I put on ESPN on the STB thats what it shows... if I change the channel to HBO thats what it shows.. So recording programs becomes difficult as I have to leave the STB on the channel I want it to record from for the scheduled recording to work! So my question is this: Is it possible to get all the channels separately on the TV Tuner or do I have no option but to use it in the way provided above! Thanks in advance any help will be highly appreciated!

Actually I also solved the above problem with the use of reminders on the STB which automatically changes the channel when the reminder is set.. So I have to set a recording for the time I need and also set a reminder for the channel on the STB from which I want to record...
