Tata Sky DTH: TRAI rejects ESPN's pricing contention

I feel in chennai atleast since it is under CAS the cable system is ok if you are using CAS STB either it may be SCV or Hathway cable as the channels comes in digital quality for the channels you have subscribed but the normal cable line still scuks as hardly 30 -35 channels are clear and the remaining channels sucks........I feel Cable under CAS is also not a bad option ........

yes Kedar, you are rite, every broadcaater will want to have its channel in base pack. I feel DTH industry and also the broadcasters have to grow up now, they have to get used to the concept of customers pay for what they watch, Instead of giving all the channels and ask them to pay for what he does not watch.
TRAI should come up with decision on individual channel selection for the consumer and pay accordingly. Consumers also should get used to the concept of DTH, which I feel is still in infant stages.
I dont mind if ESS channels are out of Base pack but TS should reduce the equivalent amount in base pack. I feel in South Starer pack they should still reduce Rs. 15 and the remaining packs base should be reduced further Rs. 10 atleast.........:thumbsup:.

I second this.. Base pack price needs to be reduced in a equivalent manner.
At present the base pack price should be reduced by Rs.15- 20, as both BBC and Tensports are taken off it..

I think we cant do anything about tensports as now it is part of zee turner and TS is providing it in ala carte basis if it was with one alliance then they should have reduced equivalent amount......

Regarding BBC some has posted in other thread that Ceebies will be part of Educational pack and BBC ent - will be in LS gold pack and BBC World will remain in respective pack......

My final as i said earlier and you also mentioned that the base pack of south starter should be reduced to a min of Rs. 15

Tata Sky approaches Tdsat over spat with ESPN Indiantelevision.com Team(2 July 2008 10:30 pm)
MUMBAI: The direct-to-home (DTH) service provider Tata Sky has approached Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (Tdsat) stating it should be discharged from complying with the undertaking submitted by ESPN Software India Private [COLOR=blue! important][COLOR=blue! important]Ltd[/COLOR][/COLOR] (ESIPL).
Tdsat has admitted the appeal and Justice Arun Kumar has asked ESIPL to file its reply by Friday this week, says a PTI report.
Earlier, Tata Sky had filed an injunction application against ESIPL in the Delhi High Court, which was overturned by the Court. The Court had maintained that Tdsat should take a view on whether Tata Sky should be allowed to be bound down by its undertaking or not. The Court had also directed the parties to approach the Tdsat for an early hearing.
