It doesn't matter wht the south guys need ... One have to understand the fact tht hindi is the national language ... So hindi channels should be given first preference ... Apart from tht some english and international channels will make the perfect blending ... So after tht if the space is there they can add other regional channels ... Like u said "In north, any bengali, Gujarati or punjabi can speak hindi" ... So the majority of ppl r hindi speaking so why waste space on regional channels ... Anyways TS don't have many users from south so need to drop these useless channels and add some english and hindi stuff ... After tht southie guys can make their choice abt which DTH to choose...

Btw I wasn't against particularly abt south indian channels only but whole regional channels like marathi, gujarati etc ... But the fact TS have added so many useless south indian channel so my emphasis was on those channels more...

That is the problem. They given advertisement in all news papers and even in regional channels ! More regional channels now on your Favourite Dishtv/Tata Sky!.. and many people bought including me ! And after paying 4000 RS, if they drop channel, we should simply pay another 2000-3000 and go for another DTH ? that is absurd !

And for you, those channels may be useless ! but for others, that may be the most useful channel ! As i said, those two dropped malayalam channels were the best among malayalam . One news and other as entertainment ! If they were not focusing on Regional or so called South people, they should have avoided initially. Nobody would have complained against anything ! By putting up all the channels from south, they made a good customer base in south ! Believe me, In bangalore if you count 10 houses, you can see atleast 4-5 dish (either TATA or DishTV) ! so they have cheated. that is what people have been asking for !

@HitmanNever expectes something like this from u.How can one decide whether the need of the hour is for more hindi channels or reigional channels. I'm a gujarati, staying in chennai, who loves watching telugu movies and wants to entertain with US and UK based shows.Why would i buy seperate connections to watch seperate channels. Every content provider has to give all channels to all the people if they need to survive in the whole of India, needless to say i also hate some of the Hindi channels that run stupid shows, But since everyone wants to watch it, i have to buy it too.. But that is ok as some of the other channels on the pack interest me.If u r talking only from ur point of view this argument is never going to end. I'm talking about the 2 million customers subscribed to Tata Sky and TataSky as a business unit. It needs more money to earn, WHat better way to serve everyone with something atleast, U get ur favourites and people in South get their favourites.Since they dont fall on seperate packages, except for the SUN pack u have to pay for not watching it. thats one biggest disadvantage of being with any DTH provider, as ur choice as a user is curbed..If u wish to get channels of ur choice without paying for the useless channels, and like to maintain ur right of choosing and paying for the channels of ur choice, Switch to cable like I have. Believe me, The quality is not that bad on cable, Given the qualityof audio and video have fallen in TataSky.

@kunal .. I am not telling they should remove all regional channels ... But 2-3 channels from every region can serve the purpose ... I agree this was a mistake from TS to add bulk of channels from one region and ignore the other ...But sooner or later they should rectify this mistake ...Btw my local cable guy is just crap .... Charge Rs. 350 and just 60 channels ... Out of which last 20 r not clear plus the downtime ... So TS serves the purpose for me .. @appus ... many ppl here say there tht TS has next to nothing presence in south ... So I just commented based on tht ... if they have such a huge presence then I suppose leasing more transponder is the only available option to them ..

When we have so many hindi channels, South people demanding for more regional channels makes a lot of sense, Even they pay for the Hindi channels they do not want to see.. Learn to live with it ..

Removing channels now is going to aggrevate more offence.. People were happy with what Tata had to offer, But they see no reason in the removal of some channels lately, As they claim most of the channels that were removed were of more user interest than any other channel. Tata Sky makes a crap statement saying that the channels were of no user interest as the channel TRP proves it, The real reason is pointed out by one of the members telling that the carraige fee is so high that the channel cannot afford. Why make all these false claims. Another reason to scrap the dish.

Remember south will always progress greater than north..
Please dont start Political fights here, talk more in general than personal.

I personally have no problem if they add any crap eventhough i dont see. But if they remove channels which we love to see the most, that irritates me a lot! and those comments supporting them !

He reads my posts well. Just put like that in his signature. The Tamil, Malayalam channels shown on Tata Sky are all FTA except Sun, Ktv, Sun news and Sun music and we need to pay Rs.50 for those Sun channels. Even then
Kiran, Surya, Chutti, U2 are all FTA.

They charge us for them!

So now without any Sun packs we will be paying Rs.310 per month! Which means only pay channel Vijay tv costs Rs.310. Malayalees are the maximum affected as none of their channels are pay in Cband.

For members who are against regional channels they need to understand that Tatasky gets money from south India as well and regional viewers pay alot more than national language viewers.

They feel better to pay for some international company rather than for an Indian! Save India.

As i see it, this is going to be a never ending argument if we keep talking on the personal front. U prefer more of Hindi and english, so u want them thats plain and simple. Why should they remove the regional languages, We already have hindi channels in plenty. The no. of Regional channels is no comparison to the no. of channels that have Hindi content on it.

Simple known fact is that if they limit their service to one particular language, they are not going to run be successful in south India, and if u go by any Indian Statistics, South Indians are more technically advanced than any other part of the country. ANy new technology gets accepted and understood in South India better.

To succedd in the concept of Satellite television, Tata Sky had to rope in all south Indians with claims of their regional channel in VD quality picture and sound. People bought TataSKy, as it was associated with a major brand 'Tata'.. Since it was meant to revolutionize the TV viewing experience, People bought it in trust.
Now all of us feel cheated, The latest package pricing is not consumer friendly, false claims of channel prices being reduced.

Coming back to the topic, I think people have a right to choose and pick what they want, but that is not practically possible in TataSky's case, But i feel they should respect this right of the consumer, and at least take concern of the customer's before making a decision on what needs to stay and what needs to go.

There are 100's of news channels showing the same show, same news, almost the same headlines, Do v need that many. I personally watch only 3-4 news channels. Channels like India TV is of no use, I even have put that channel on parental control so that i dont watch it even by mistake.

Instead of u claiming the reduction in the regional channels, to accommodate ur favourite Hindi entertainment channels, Please from now on make claims about removing the not so popular news channels, Hindi GEC channels to accommodate the channels u like.

As far as all this discussion goes, Nothing is going to happen apart from personal conflicts between the members. Tata is not listening to all this or the customer voices, I guess u have to either live with it or just scrap it and look for better options.

Well forgteet about south Indian channels and forget about North Indian channels,They should removed all Showcase channels and just show only one channels since not many movis comming and hardly few people see it.Remove promo channel :thumb:
