Yesterday upgraded by Tata Sky to TataSky HD.
My TV: Samsung 32 Inch, 1080p HD LCD TV
My Home Theater: Logitech Z5500
Connected to home theater via Coax and Tv via HDMI.
Good:
Picture quality of NGC HD, Discover HD are on par with my 720P HD videos I play with my WD TV.
Bad:
SD channels picture quality has gone down. Beleive me. I read in several forums with HDMI the SD channels look great. But in my case the SD channels quality is not good. I see pixellation in high quality channels such as Sun TV. Tried changing various setting like 720p/Tv setting. Still those SD chanels are good as the my old STB connected via composite. In that the HQ channels will feel smooth. I dont see that now with HD STB
Ugly:
Discovery HD , NGC HD, and Star Plus HD has Dolby 5.1 'encoded' audio as my Z500 rightly identifies the signals. But only Discover has the proper 5.1 effects. NGC HD the voice come from left and rear speakers which should be normally coming from Center speakers. Start Plus HD all 6 channels are encoded with same audio
. So this this just gives good surround effect not Dolby !
The volume is is not uniform in all the channels. Worst thing is the volume control in STB does not work for some channels. It gives sound with o level in StarPlus and and other HD channels and some SD channels. Other SD channels like Sun TV, the volume control works
