hi guys jus got ma big tv connection.. in notice dat Tata Sky's picture qua;ity is the best... also bigtv's is very gud... but in comparison i think ts is better in the picture quality front... i guess coz mpeg4 compresses the picture...so only... wat do you guys think?? plz reply

Interesting question ! I intend to get a DTH connection. Picture and sound quality is most important as that is the reason I intend to switch over from my current cable connection. Tata Sky quality of video is good on normal TVs but my experience of the picture quality seen at Reliance BigTV showrooms on large screen LCD TVs did not look quite DVD quality as advertised. In fact the picture quality was disappointing. Can users of Big TV, both on LCD and normal TVs comment so that I can make a buying decision ?

Well as far as ive seen Bigtv's picture clarity is the best till now...there are no pixellation in any channels wheras TS quality is also goodbut some channels have pixelation problemComing to the technology factor of MPEG2 AND MPEG4This has nothing to do with the pic quality as mpeg4 tech carries more channels than mpeg2

You will not get the correct answer as far as the picture quality is concerned, as it is a personal decision and depends on the the channel and the place of installation.

You better see it on the dealer's premise or in a tv showroom; ask them to show the channels you normally watch.

well i have connected big tv via component to both a Sony 21inch wega crt and a sony 32inch bravia lcd,now the picture quality in lcd is much better due to the bravia engine in the lcd, sony have realy screwed up the wega lineup with their wega sparkling engine,i regret selling my 11year old sony tv which produces a image so much better then the present sony wega CRT tvs, offcoures the sony lcds are much much better.

one thing is Big tv doesnt output the image in 16:9 mode despite the CC care saying it does.none of the dth players offer 16:9 mode.
so my lcd tv upscales the image quite well via component much better then composite.so i guess for a lcd tv owner big tv is better.u will still get two black bars at the sides,u can strech the image but the picture looses it sharpness and people look fat.

Yes, I do agree TS has the good pic quality when you see it in LCD TV. If you take an example of normal TV, SD and BIG TV looks good than TS. But i have compared the same with LCD TV. Pic quality is not upto the mark. I am connecting through the Component cables... which is better than connecting it via the AV method. I am getting rich color experience in component input. But still the pic not that much sharp in LCD. BIG TV really does not look good in BIG TV's (LCD etc)

Big tv has better picture quality. i have seen pixalation problem on some channels with TS but on big tv it doesn't occur. if picture quality is better on cinema channels

I agree pixalation are less in BIG TV. But the sharness of the pic goes in LCD TV when you see it in 16:9 Mode. Images are streched to fit on the TV. Only in 4:3 it is looks nice. If they start to tranmit the pic in 16:9 Mode it will be good to see and pic does not loose its sharpness. In SD, DW-TV is coming in 16:9 Mode which looks very clear on LCD TV.But TS looks very good and guess it supports 16:9 mode. I have seen in showroom, and the images are very sharp in LCD too.But TS looks very good and guess it supports 16:9 mode. I have seen in showroom, and the images are very sharp in LCD too.
