Hi guys just 2 days back I got a Cable SCV STB to my house and i am also using TS. On wednesday since i got the cable STB, I degraded my TS package to Family package in which all the channels are hindi and there were some channels like discovery, ngc & history channel was also there in the package and some cortoon channels too. To my surprise i found that the channels such as NGC, Discovery, History and the cortoon channels in that pack are coming only in hindi feed and in the language change option they have barred english option. I was just fed up with this attitude of TS. My convern was that once if you are providing the channel to the customer and if you have language option provide to the customer. Any way i dont have a problem in that as those channels are coming for me in english mode in my SCV Cable STB. I just wanted to convey this that how smart is TS in luring the customer to get into Rs.300 pack or Rs. 350 Pack. All these days i did not know about the problem as i was subscribing to South Jumbo pack where in i get all the channels from TS and hence i did not bother about the channel package system. Now i realised my self personally when wanted to change the package. Lets see how for TS is successful in having these package. I dont have any hope in big tv as i think that they will also have the channel packages which will be costly for a customer. Any way keep the fingers crossed till Big tv is launched.
 
oh yeah ? thats a very fraudulent activity by Tata Sky :madness: i want TRAI to make serious rules to change the DTH pattern present now.
 
I was really really upset with that activity of TS and i did not expect that from them too but still when compared in picture quality between TS and SCV STB, TS has got bit better quality in pciture wise but i am also happy with the picture quality of SCV STB which is also good and i dont have any issues on that. One good thing about SCV STB is that the channel content can be sorted and also we can add unlimited channels in Favourite list which is not there in DTH:thumbsup:
 
You have opted for the 'hindi' package and you are getting it. Why complain?I have opted for the English package, but I am not getting BBC entertainment. Now I suspect it must be in Hindi. Will you pl. check and enlighten?I recently read in a mangement article that the 'put customers first' is an old concept and need not be practised on all occassions.

Out of this package the channel such as Discovery, NGC, History, Cortoon network, Disney, Toon Disney, POGO & Nick Channels are coming in hindi feed only as the language option of english is barred for me.

You might getting these channels in english feed also because you might have gone with super saver pack.
 
Its because before sun channels were launched, Tata Sky had 3 packages Indian, Western and Jumbo. And channels were distributed mostly based on Hindi and English language. And in such a way that eventually u will find that if u want popular hindi and english channels, u have no option but to get Jumbo pack.

Same thing still applies.

I was just fed up with this attitude of TS.

Earlier u just had TS and u found it to be customer friendly and best one. Now within days of getting SCV, u r fed up of TS attitude!
 


I was fed up because i was subscribing to south jumbo pack till now. Just came to know that about this issue that for silly thing when a channel is subscribed by a subscriber when language option is there for that particualr give it to them at free of cost. Why should i need to pay Rs. 50 extra to get into in super saver pack to view those channels in english. Since i am using this pack for the past days i came to know about this if i was in jumbo pack i never realised this. One thing for sure that i will be with TS for atleast for the next one year. I cant pay Rs. 50 for sun tv channels where in i get 20 channels and additionally 30 FTA channels such as NDTV, IBN, Timesnow, H Today and other channels for Rs. 100. Thinking about the future no matter which ever dth provider he is they are going to charge for the channels and they put in a pack where in we need to subscribe to all the channels in which some are useless. Currently my TS viewing is all about cricket only and rarely i see some hindi movies. I am a tamilian and i need tamil channels. I opted for jumbo pack because i thought very soon they will add raj tv, raj digital but it did not happen for me and i dont have any issues on that too. I am great fan of tamil music and curretnly there are other 3 channels which are tamil music channels which i think it will take some time to get into TS. More importantly there are some channel which i think TS will not such as some zee channels, b4u channels and many more and thats the reason i got my cable back along with SCV STB so that i need not depend on TS for any channels whether they will add or not. By this if i require any channel i could just opt for that channel alone. Mr. Amish dont think that i am using SCV and i am praising them. Every knows about the advantages, disadvantages of both dish tv & TS and they also have their own limitations in adding channels and i do understand their problem. Since i understand there problem i took my cable back with SCV STB along with TS. I am a person who dont sit and cry for a particular channel to the service provider if he is not able to provde certain channels of my wish and which is not feasible to him, I cant fight it out with TS. Its better to look for other option which is feasible to me to get that channel and thats the reason i got my local cable back and more importantly I accept that TS has got their own limitations in adding regional channels unless they get more transponders. If they hire they will put back the cost onto the customers.

That article must have surely been written by an idiot of the nth degree - one of those self appointed management gurus who won't recognize management if it hit them in the face.

If a business ignores the customer, it will soon find itself on the street begging or something. Some customers have long memories and don't forget it when someone tries to get smart with them. The only way businesses can prevent this from happening is by creating an immoral monopoly - either by coercion or by getting discriminatory laws passed. Or they can always change their identity.
 
^^^ Sometime pvt organisations like banks, mobile operators, postal/couriers, hospitals are worst then govt. services, and we begin to wonder that we could have tried govt service too

A nice paradox for you.

There was an interesting case in 80s when a Japanese old man sued Sony. He bought a transistor radio (made with real transistors) in late fifties/early sixties which had a lifetime warranty. It conked off after abour 30 years of use. He wanted that set to be repaired as it had a lifetime warranty. Sony offered a current model free, but with current warranty terms i.e. 1 year. He didn't accept and wanted a lifetime warranty for the new model as well. Sony cannot give a lifetime warranty because of rapid technogy obsolescence or it may even exit from the business and will not be in a position to support the model for ever. Both went to court.
What is your take on the customer's demands?
