MUMBAI: After being blacklisted by BCCI, Taj Television, the owner of Ten Sports, has won the telecast rights of all international cricket matches from South Africa and Zimbabwe for Asia and the Middle East, including India and Pakistan.
With this, Ten Sports now has the rights for all international cricket played in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Zimbabwe and South Africa which account for 50% of international cricket.
Off the ten boards, Ten sports at least for the next one year will be home for all the action from half the cricketing world. “By acquiring the telecast rights for South Africa and Zimbabwe, Ten Sports has significantly added to its broadcasts of the world’s best live cricket action.
Our line-up of international cricket now extends through the end of the decade,” Chris McDonald, chief executive officer, Taj Television, told ET. While the South Africa and Zimbabwe rights are one-year deals, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and West Indies rights are due to expire in 2008.
