When the head of a powerful Taiwanese triad is shot by a mysterious assassin, his eldest son, legendary killer Charles “Chairleg” Sun (Justin Chien) heads to Los Angeles to protect his mother, Eileen (Michelle Yeoh), and his naive younger brother, Bruce (Sam Song Li) — who’s been completely sheltered from the truth of his family until now.
But as Taipei’s deadliest societies and a new rising faction go head-to-head for dominance — Charles, Bruce and their mother must heal the wounds caused by their separation and figure out what brotherhood and family truly mean before one of their countless enemies kills them all. An action-packed comedy and family drama, THE BROTHERS SUN is created by Brad Falchuk and Byron Wu. The Brothers Sun comes to Netflix January 4th, 2024.

I mean it was largely a very mediocre show tbh. Action sequences were fine but nothing spectacular. Was mostly a family drama rather than an out and out action show. Not surprised that it didn't do well and was cancelled.

It couldn't find a large audience coz it was a mediocre show and didn't have the viral factor. So it got cancelled. Netflix cancel shows that are exceptional and gain a good following. I don't think anyone on social or reddit is even sad that this one got cancelled. I don't even remember any threads about it on r/television. Pretty much the same for Spaceman tbh. Pretty intense movie but seems to have disappeared without making a splash. Typical Adam Sandler movies do incredibly well socially and in Asian markets I believe.

Sandler has a deal in place with Netflix so he probably is not affected much. He could do a low effort comedy and it would be back on the charts. This one was a serious role and he spent most of the movie on his own or with a giant space spider. Wouldn't have finished it if it was some other actor.
