The Continental is a chain of Hotels located all around the world that function as a neutral territory for members of the criminal underworld. They are frequented by many hitmen and notorious murderers.

John Wick Series The Continental Adds Preacher Writer

Saturday night, Preacher alum Susan Hurwitz Arneson tweeted she'd be joining the writer's room for the upcoming Starz series. Though details remain mum on the upcoming John Wick spinoff, the fact the network is assembling a writer's room is reassuring news for fans hoping to eventually see the series materialize.

Earlier this summer, Starz content boss Jeffrey Hirsch confirmed the series was still in active development, revealing it'd take place before any of the three John Wick films.

The Continental will explore the origin behind the hotel-for-assassins, which increasingly has become the centerpiece of the John Wick universe. This will be accomplished through the eyes and actions of a young Winston Scott, who is dragged into the Hell-scape of a 1975 New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind. Winston charts a deadly course through the New York’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the iconic hotel, which serves as the meeting point for the world’s most dangerous criminals. No word yet on who’ll play Winston Scott (the hotel owner is played in the films by Ian McShane). Gibson will play a character named Cormac.

Apparently, Mel Gibson was kind of exiled from Hollywood for his anti-semitic and racist views.

Throughout the years, Gibson’s career has been riddled with accusations of anti-Semitism, homophobia, racism and domestic violence.

The series is moving from Starz to NBCU streamer Peacock.

The unusual move comes more than four years after the project was first unveiled by the premium cable network. Sources have told Deadline that the three-part action event series is more of a natural fit for Peacock, which recently acquired the rights to the John Wick movies, and comes as Starz has repositioned its brand over the last few years to focus more on female skewing series such as Outlander and series that fit specific demographics such as the Power franchise.

It is not part of a wholesale move to move projects elsewhere ahead of Lionsgate’s pending deal to sell the cable network, as an announcement could come next month. Starz is not expected to have a second window.

The three-part event will debut on Friday, Sept. 22, followed by Part 2 airing Sept. 29 and Part 3 on Oct. 6.
