so this does look like a higher budget madam secretary but not good. remains to be seen.
 
Initial few episodes are pretty good.
 
I've not watched madam secretary.

Diplomat is not heavy on drama or action, reminds me of a lighter version of Aaron Sorkin dialogue heavy West Wing kind of scenes mostly.
 
If you like this, definitely check out Madam Secratary. They don't have the Netflix budget probably but characters are great. Though unlike this show, they usually had episodic stories.

Biggest problem with this show is American diplomat is the primary character in a story focused on an attack on British ship. And the stupid twist at the end that ends in a cliffhanger.
