The disparity between Jio 4G's real-world speeds and their speedtest.net speeds

I hate that Jio 4gb cap.I update one game on steam and its over.Browsing speed and downloading sucks i can only download fast through idm.
Btw how do u pay to buy VPN cause indian debit card doesnt work.

hrishi.baba I just removed the VPN and tested your experiment. Yes, it seems to be right. Websites crawl even worse than dial up. Even speedtest.net and broadband forum takes ages to load (in several minutes at the least). But I opened up Youtube in the next tab and it opened up fast. Then I opened a video in 1080p and it is playing without any steaming and instead the streaming speed is faster than the playing speed at 1080p.

Are they crazy or something? Youtube at 1080p would consume a lot higher bandwidth than basic web browsing. So, WTF are they blocking plain web browsing (which would hardly consume them 1 mbps or a lot lesser bandwidth) and instead allowing Youtube to stream freely. They are also not blocking torrents or heavy downloads it seems. Their actions (if indeed they are throttling everything related to browsing) defied common sense and plain logic. You would block something that consumes a lot of bandwidth if you want to save bandwidth. Why would you block something that hardly consumes even a few MBs such as browsing?

Hope these issues get fixed after 31st December. I would still wait more for their FTTH as that is a realistic replacement for broadband and 4G cannot replace broadband.

It's more likely a routing issue than a throttling issue. I have been facing similar issues on Reliance Broadband for a few days as well.

Ouch Susubh I have been saying that since the start about the routing problems with Jio. But everybody has been saying throttling is the reason behind it. Whatever it is hope it gets fixed soon.

On a side note, you can use a VPN affiliate and create a thread in the Jio forum with the list of best VPNs such as HMA, PureVPN and PIA. It would help users who are new to VPN and it would also help in the forum revenue. I have tested it and VPN reduces the problems and makes the Jio 4G connection usable.

I only recommend PIA and affiliate link for it is connected to the keyword VPN. Too lazy to create and maintain accounts on multiple platforms.

Yes, PIA would probably make more sense for general users. There are two good things about PIA compared to PureVPN and HMA.One is that they are cheaper and second is that they do not keep log files while the other two keep them. Unless there is need of IP diversity (nearly 10 times the IPs and countries in PureVPN and more in HMA), PIA should suffice all requirements for VPN users.

BTW there is an affiliate of PureVPN too. My post content automatically connected the world PureVPN to their affiliate. Thank you anyways for the reply. Hope the Jio issues resolve soon at least before their FTTH launch in which I am more interested.

I think this issue is more to do with international bandwidth. This forum is hosted on us servers while youtube is cached on local servers.

The speeds are really bad, even the YouTube videos are buffering now, People like me that paid for jiofi or lyf device wouldn't even get their money's worth, the calling is decent tho.
