The Hobbit is one book of around 300 pages, peter jackson is making 3 movies from that source

yup. plus they totally cut out the dragon taking their castle battle. Should have spent more on cgi there instead they used it all up when doing the final chase inside the caves from Goblins !

now that the dragon is out in the 2nd movie, 3rd movie should be full of dragon fights

Good movie. Just stating the obvious, you need complete the LOTR series to understand the characters. The Hobbit series is a prequel.
