For that matter, i would differ a bit.D2h's STB - neither Standard, nor HD - give any sort of those surprises. We actually pick it up & move here & there, though with caution, even while its On.The Standard box was of some Indian make & the HD is of South African make......company name is Altech UEC.
It takes about 300~400 ms for a signal to travel from terra-firma, to the satellite, through its transponder, and back [] . So that can not be removed/improved. [Speed of light is constant in this universe!]Its the same with satellite phones. Apart from that a slight lag is intoduced by Tata Sky's HW/SF which they could work on. But it really has never bothered me. What gets my goat is that after you switch off the box, it gors back to the advert channel. That is really unfair on TS's part.
in signaling terms both light and television signals are the same and what varies only the wavelength and frequency. the speed differs with the medium it travels.
Btw I dont think that wireless signals travel at speed of light, because signals are not light they are radio waves.

A radio wave is an electromagentic wave.
It therefore travels at the speed of light.
Note: Speed of light in medium depends on permeability and permitivity. Both are 1 for air, so in air RF/microwaves/light all travel at 3*10^8 m/s (for all practical purposes.)
