I take new vi prepaid connection and assholes at vi store charged me ₹101 as service fees even though in the website it says completely free

Oh you lucky fellow. They charged me one-time 243 or 247 for what they call Net Secure service that nobody knew how to activate. They said call customer care. Customer care and email support said it will be activated at store only. <expletives>

So I just swallowed that pill, and decided I am porting out the moment my 90 days are up (20 days from now). Everyday I receive 6+ SMS from them about packs. I emailed them and customer care called me saying they can’t stop it! Amazing. Never looking back at this network until they fix themselves. But again, I do not want them to die. I do not want to hand my balls to pradhaan and the richest motabhai in India.

Didn't raise the matter with them?
Nope, didn't care I only took VI to try before it gets shuts down. My first sim is vodafone and assholes started to charge me ₹5 daily for VAS and I throw it away (before MNP period) and got a new connection from BSNL and it becomes my primary sim. Moral of the story these assholes don't deserve our mercy vodafone itself lose one chance to become my primary provider.

Well. Ported one number out of Vi and into Airtel today. Did not have the other number with me to receive OTP, so could not get the second one done as well. Chhatri guys gave me 2 months free. Got number ported without paying anything, and should not need to pay anything for 56 days.

Don't know.. the last I ever interacted with chhatri guys was in 2016-17 with Jio. These guys told me that getting the 1 month plan was chargeable and if I take the 2 months plan I do not need to pay anything, so I said fine, give me two months since I will be keeping Airtel anyway.

I am yet to see if the offer actually works. They did not charge a thing, but I do not know what exactly I am getting for 2 months. Did not bother to ask since I thought I can always do the needful later on in the app/ on the website once porting is done.

I will report in 2 days once the porting is complete. On that note, if you can help me with this:

I generated my port out codes for two numbers on Aug 23, valid till 27. Now, today when I ported one number, the SMS that came was that porting will be complete by 26th. I could not get the second number ported today because I forgot to bring that device with me, so could not have given them the OTPs. Now, question is, if I go tomorrow, will my porting be done by 27th (2 days' time, like the SMS today) or should I instead wait now till 28th and go then?

These vi folks in KA circle don't allow you to convert to prepaid even after 90 days of being on their worst network. (My friend's Jio/airtel had 30 days of lock-in).

They were very rude when I had asked after 1 month to convert to prepaid.. (I thought Vi postpaid services might be good so I had bought fancy number. I earlier had a prepaid connection which was average).

Store people's reply on requesting prepaid conversion:

"Why did you take postpaid? One has to wait for 120 days to convert, and we ask consent for the same when purchasing SIM card (Actually there was no such ask). You have to pay the rental upto 120 days in advance, then only we can take your request"

I kept on raising complaints to 198 and twitter, no use. All Complaints (coverage, internet) closed without any resolution. And guess what, within few days, one by one your complaint records go missing from Vi app.

I felt bad taking this connection and paying monthly rentals with no proper service.

I have applied for porting to other network, should see how it goes.

I had an old Vodaphone no for Mumbai Circle which I ported to Airtel back when
the issue of Voda-Idea going bankrupt was in play.

No network issues in Chor(air)tel apart from hefty recharge fees :)

Just wondering how many will now port after the price hike?🤔
Not much. Because Jio also hiked the tariffs. But those who feel minimum recharge is too much then there will be port outs to Jio and BSNL. But eventually BSNL will hike too. But they will wait unlike Jio. Jio has to deploy 5G next year anyhow that's why they are getting ready with 5G auctions with this tariff hikes and small cell deployment too. So they needed this hike. After this hike, mostly everyone will shift to broadband or fiber and everyone will get quality service. There is no going back to 1699-2399 for yearly service which was OK from both consumer and companies perspective. But everybody is same. If it was Airtel in past, now it's Jio. Jio should have waited and should have brought tariff hike after a month or so. But everybody us damn greedy. Let's switch to 100Mbps broadband wherever possible.
