Despite the lack of effort put into writing the story, I actually enjoyed it. But definitely only worth watching in a cinema.

It's not like that the first part had any story. And there is no other reason why would one go for it. And I kind of like that this movie was not made for 3D. Would have given instant headaches.

Top Gun Maverick made an estimated $156 million domestically for its four-day opening weekend. That gives the film the record for biggest opening over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, overtaking "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," which made $153 million in 2007.

It's easily Cruise's biggest debut at the box office over his 40-year career and marks the star's first $100 million opening.

On top of all of that, "Maverick" is the third-biggest debut of the year behind two superhero films, Marvel's "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" and Warner Bros.' "The Batman."

Every movie is breaking revenue record. May be due to higher ticket price or inflation

Even though it is just a rehash of the old Top Gun, it is still by far the coolest movie I have seen in a theatre. It was an amazing experience.

It does give you a better context with certain characters. I mean this movie will explain those past characters and their relationship with Tom but I would personally still recommend it.
