TP-Link XC220-G3V AC1200

Default router has a lot of settings blocked and usually default router will not be as powerful in processing when compared to a router you can buy in market.

i am confused if i should buy it or not, right now i have airtel's Nokia router.

plus i have some more question

1) will airtel support help me with the setup?
2) do airtel allow users to use third-party routers what if i get caught using another router?

Unless you want improved WiFi range (which you may or may not get) or you want some setting which is locked it's not very useful. The only other situation is will better is if for some reason your current provided router is not good and dropping packets (because the router is not able to handle your connections).

In my case I have Airtel provided ZTE F670LV9.0 ONT and it's working perfectly fine as I don't need any blocked settings and also the router is not droping any packets. From what I have read in the forum and youtube the Nokia ONTare very good but sometimes the 5Ghz fails in them. Also Nokia ONT can be unlocked (depending on model ig) so you probably don't need a new TP-Link router.

Also I am pretty sure in Nokia Routers you can enable bridge mode quite easily so even if you do wan't a router you don't need one with GPON port. You can just get a normal router and connect that with your Nokia ONT and save some money.

yeah gotcha but what if i got the TP-Link i setup and airtel caught me using that router ? because they have some sort of control on the router like changing password, upgrading firmware, reboot and all i am guessing if someone is using any other router they wont be able to control those settings.

Airtel can't really catch you as you can clone your mac address and serial of your Airtel Provided ONT. Also yes you are right they won't be able to control any of those things remotly anymore if you replace your setup.
