But we can still block that series in Truecaller?
I have setup caller name based block where any caller name having loan, spam, scam are automatically blocked. Ofcourse caller name are crowd sourced.

1600 numbers are supposed to be for service calls. Calls you are supposed to pick. But of course companies are abusing the system so no one is picking either 140 or 1600 series. i have blocked a bunch of 1600 numbers myself. i do not use truecaller though.

the way things are going they are going to get Apple/google/samsung to disable blocking of these numbers in their native dialer.

Many times Truecaller displays Green banner for some calls, like from HDFC RM. But Samsung displays likely Spam for same call 😁

i am guessing companies are feeding their own database to truecaller? samsung's database is managed by hiya which probably does not have an indian division?

Yes, there was some news about Truecaller tie-up with Indian companies and even govt departments to display their names against number for incoming calls.

No app can block phone calls originating from 1600 number series that are meant for communications by regulated entities and the government to citizens, telecom regulator Trai said in a statement on Friday.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has also clarified that promotional calls originating from 140 number series cannot be tagged or filtered by an app and can only be blocked by DND registry which is managed by the regulator.
